Poetics

When constructing this project, I took into consideration the punctum effect, reasoneon, and the emblem to truly convey what message I was going for. When I created the testimonial posts, I was going for the reasoneon component where you provide facts but also provide that “neon” factor where you are shocked by a certain story, event, picture, video, etc. I think this is where I really showed people how I felt about the situation and also provided an outlet for the community to express their views on all the shootings that have happened in the past and within the last few years as well. I wanted to show my audience how racism still occurs in society today and that it will not be straightened out until we take major action or else our society will be stagnant and never progress forward.

When composing my emblem and the majority of my project, I reviewed the punctum effect over and over. That was one term that really related to me because I didn’t want to provide information and research that were just relevant in society but I wanted to provide examples that truly struck emotion within myself. Society knows that this is a major problem that we need to fix, however there is those questions that everybody is still wondering. Why is it taking so long for this issue to be resolved? Why isn’t this forgotten by now? Why can’t everyone feel like they can be equal with one another? What is holding us back?

To be honest, I don’t have an answer for these questions because I’m still wondering myself. However, if this issue was seen as an important sacrifice to everyone, I think people would start taking more action. I think by providing a better education, putting this issue above everything else (because it is THAT pivotal), and to just keep broadcasting this issue on every media platform and in person, it would start to make a dent in an issue that is very deep.

We need to stop plotting against each other based on race and instead unite together as one and figure out a way to END this problem of racial profiling! I cannot relay how crucial this is.
